Investing In Communities - Case studies

The Big Lottery Fund in Scotland believes that self-evaluation is crucial to the success of all our Investing in Communities projects. It helps grant holders to find out how they are making a difference, to learn about what does and does not work, and provides valuable information for developing and improving projects in the future.

In addition, we made clear at the start of this investment that we would seek to learn from what we do, and share that learning with others.

That’s why we commissioned Blake Stevenson to investigate our grant holders’ experiences of undertaking self-evaluation as part of our investment and produce a series of case studies to reflect this work to date.

Each of the case studies has a different perspective of the positive difference their project has made.  We hope that these will not only inform and inspire other projects looking to overcome similar challenges, but will also be able to be used to positively influence future policy and practice.

Self-evaluation is about encouraging grant holders to embark on a learning journey, and should play a part creating a relationship where those who receive investment from BIG are able to tell us not only about what works, but also about what doesn’t work and what we need to learn from in future.

BIG would like to thank Blake Stevenson for providing self-evaluation support to our IiC grant holders and for undertaking the case studies.

We hope that you enjoy reading this album of impact.
