To mark the early achievements of its Playful Ideas programme the Big Lottery Fund hosted this exciting national conference, in Bristol on Friday 26 February 2010.

Come out to play...

Delegates enjoyed den building and other free, exciting outdoor play experiences.

Summary

Chaired by our Chief Executive, Peter Wanless, speakers included Laverne Antrobus, Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist, Tim Gill, one of the UK's leading thinkers on childhood, and Adrian Voce, Director of Play England, with closing comments from Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families.

The event worked to:

- Facilitate the exchange of ideas and learning, and lessons for replication.

- Provide networking opportunities at grass roots and strategic levels.

- Inform policy and practice at a national, regional and local level.

- Review the elevated profile of Children's Play following the Big Lottery Fund initiative.

A number of Playful Ideas grant-holders showcased their projects at the event so delegates were able to experience examples of play innovation on the day.
